Why Hydration Matters for Your Spine:

  • Spinal discs are mostly water; dehydration = less shock absorption (PubMed – Dehydration and Disc Health)
  • Muscles cramp and fatigue more when dehydrated
  • Headaches and brain fog often improve with better hydration

How Much Water Should You Drink?

  • General rule: Half your body weight in ounces daily (e.g., 150 lbs = 75 oz water)
  • Add more if you’re outside, exercising, or consuming caffeine/alcohol

Hydrating Foods to Add:

  • Watermelon, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges, celery
  • Soups and smoothies (yes, those count!)

Signs You May Be Dehydrated:

  • Fatigue, dry mouth, headaches, muscle cramps, dizziness

BackMenders Tip: Keep a reusable water bottle with you. Again, try to drink at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces. It’s a lot easier to do if you have water with you at all times. And if your spine still feels stiff, let us help with that too.
